Let's READ, Georgia!
In April of 2023, HB 538 was signed into law. This historic bill addresses the literacy deficit in Georgia and identifies components for systematic improvement.
Known as Georgia’s Early Literacy Act, the law includes several components that are tasked to the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE), Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESA) Network, and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA). This document aims to capture the major professional learning requirements of the law and, most specifically, the Literacy Coaching Training and Implementation pieces of the legislation. It is imperative that Georgia’s Educational Leaders and our Literacy Coaches understand all requirements of the Act as this important legislation is rolled out across the state.
